Upholstery Cleaning

Why Your Upholstery Needs Professional Cleaning

Your couch is one of the most used pieces of furniture in your home — but when did you last think about what's living in it?

Over time, upholstery absorbs everything your household throws at it: dead skin cells, pet dander, dust mites, food particles, body oils, and everyday dirt. This gradual build-up of soils and bacteria doesn't just affect the look of your furniture — it affects the air quality in your home and the health of your family.

You wash your clothes after wearing them. Why not your couch?

Think about it: you sit on your sofa every single day, yet most people never have it professionally cleaned. Unlike your clothes, upholstery can't go in the washing machine — but that doesn't mean it should go uncleaned. Professional upholstery cleaning removes the soils, allergens, and odour-causing bacteria that regular vacuuming simply can't reach.

Here's why regular upholstery cleaning matters:

  • Remove built-up soils and bacteria — Deep-seated grime, allergens, and bacteria accumulate in the fibres of your upholstery over time, contributing to odours and potential health concerns.

  • Eliminate unpleasant odours — Pet smells, food odours, and general mustiness are neutralised, leaving your furniture smelling fresh and clean.

  • Tackle stubborn stains — Whether it's a red wine spill, a coffee mark, or years of gradual soiling, professional cleaning can lift stains that home remedies can't budge.

  • Extend the life of your furniture — Dirt and grit are abrasive. Left untreated, they break down upholstery fibres from the inside out, causing premature wear and fading. Regular cleaning protects your investment and keeps your furniture looking newer, for longer.

Our Upholstery Cleaning Process

1. Inspection

Before we begin, we inspect your upholstery to assess the fabric type, condition, and any areas of concern. This allows us to tailor our approach and select the right cleaning solutions for your specific piece of furniture.

2. Vacuum

We start with a thorough dry vacuum to remove loose surface soils, dust, pet hair, and debris. This step is essential — it ensures the wet cleaning stage works on the deeper embedded soils rather than pushing surface dirt further into the fabric.

3. Apply Pre-Spray

A specially formulated pre-spray is applied to the upholstery to break down oils, soiling, and stains. The pre-spray is chosen based on the fabric type identified during inspection, ensuring it's both effective and safe for your furniture.

4. Agitation

The pre-spray is gently worked into the fabric using soft brushes and agitation tools. This helps loosen deeply embedded soils and ensures the cleaning solution penetrates evenly throughout the fibres.

5. Hot Water Extraction

This step uses our professional hot water extraction equipment to thoroughly rinse and extract the soils, pre-spray, and contaminants from your upholstery. The result is deeply cleaned, fresh-smelling furniture — with minimal drying time.

6. Deodorise & Groom

Deodoriser is applied to leave your upholstery smelling fresh and clean. Additionally, depending on the fabric we may also groom the upholstery to leave it looking great and allowing for faster drying times.

Commercial Upholstery Cleaning

First impressions matter. Offices, waiting rooms, hotels, restaurants, and other commercial spaces take a heavy toll on their furniture — and dirty, worn-looking upholstery sends the wrong message to clients and customers.

Marine Upholstery Cleaning

Boat upholstery faces some of the harshest conditions of any fabric — constant exposure to salt, moisture, sunscreen, and UV — making it a breeding ground for mould, mildew, and odours.

Our marine upholstery cleaning service is specifically designed to tackle the unique challenges of boat and watercraft interiors. We remove mould, salt residue, and deep-set soiling, helping to preserve your marine upholstery and protect it from premature deterioration.
